European ski resorts getting nervousDecember 5, 2006
A news article here describes the situation perfectly. The warm autumn and start to “winter” means that the snow cannons are starting up in earnest and will need to stay on for quite some time.
I’ve been monitoring the reports from Cervinia, a high Italian resort underneath the Matterhorn and even they have no snow on the lower runs. I’ve skied there 6 or so times and they always have good snow, even now. Worrying. I hate to think how Sauze, the resort I lived in for 2 seasons, is going to cope as it is relatively low in terms of altitude. We will have to wait and see …..
